Week 4 (Special: Time Management!)
Welcome back to another UGC blog post! This week's blog is about time management- a very very important skill to master! As a UGC creator (or any other type of freelancer) it's hard to keep track of time since we don't have a set schedule. This can easily lead to a unhealthy work-to-life balance. So today, I will be talking about my experience with time management and tips on how to achieve a healthy work schedule!
I'm going to keep it real with you guys- I not the best at time management! In fact, I kind of suck at it. Whenever there is something I passionate about, I get absolutely OBSESSED. For example, every time I discover a new TV show, I will watch it for 8 hours straight if I could! The same thing happend when I first started doing UGC three weeks ago. I sat in front of my computer all day long, checking my emails every few seconds. It's like I got sucked into an alternate dimension where the only thing I could think of is UGC. Now that I look back on it, I can see that that is VERY unhealthy behavior!
But from then I have slowly made improvement with managing my time. Though I still haven't mastered it (not even close!) I've learned a few things. One thing that I can willingly say is that YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK!! From UGC and social media as a whole! An exercise that has really helped my with this is completely shutting off my phone. I try to do this whenever I get the chance to. As a UGC creator we use technology so much and powering off our devices is such a good way to feel refreshed.
Another great exercise that really helped me is limiting the times I check my email and social media. I know it can be tempting but the more times we check, then more we want to check again. I also find that if there isn't any new activity I tend to get disappointed, which is a completely unnecessary way to affect my mood.
Prioritizing is also important when it comes to doing UGC. For example, I'm a student. My top priority is school and UGC is just a side job. I have to make sure that (when I start school in September) I don't get carried away with UGC. Setting boundaries is a good and simple way to prioritize. For example, here are 5 boundaries I've set for myself so I don't get carried away with UGC when I start school:
1. Check emails only after coming home from school (not in the morning)
2. Send brand outreaches on the weekend (try to send not more than 10), only reply to emails on week days
3. Shoot content on the weekends
4. UGC work after homework
5. 20 min of UGC work on week days
As I said, I still have a lot of room for improvement! But I am so very excited to get better! I hope this blog post helps anyone else who is trying to master the art of time management! Let's improve together!
My goals for next week are:
- Land 1 paid colab and 1-2 gifted colab(s)
- Improve on time management :)
- Set a healthy work schedule before school starts!
So yeah! This is how my week as a teen UGC creator went! Keep smiling and I'll see you next week!
Lots of love,
Julia <3
